Friedman tapped for Kids’ WB

Nick's exec moves to senior veepee post

The WB has tapped Nickelodeon marketing and creative exec Donna L. Friedman to the new position of senior veepee of its Kids’ WB! ayem programming division.

Friedman will replace current prexy Jean MacCurdy, who moves to her position as prexy of Warner Bros. TV Animation and Hanna-Barbera. There, she plans to produce original programming.

Friedman, will report directly to Susanne Daniels, who recently was upped to prexy of entertainment for the WB Television Network.

In her new post, Friedman will oversee Kids’ WB! on a day-to-day basis, concentrating on current programming and the development of series, both animated and live-action.

“Her vast experience at Nickelodeon, makes her uniquely qualified to be my partner,” Daniels said. “Our goal is to build on the tremendous platform already established by Jean MacCurdy at Kids WB! to make it the most relevant and highly rated kids network in the broadcast business.”

Friedman, who has worked at Nickelodeon since 1990, most recently was veep, marketing/associate creative director of Nickelodeon Latin American, and helped launch the cable network’s channel in Latin America.

As managing producer, Nickelodeon Interactive/Viacom New Media, she also helped direct Nickelodeon’s entry into the multimedia publishing business and produced CD-ROM and video game titles such as “Nickelodeon Director’s Lab,” “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” among others.
