Dwight Caines has been upped to veep of market research for the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group.
Caines, formerly executive director of the department, will continue to conduct research of creative materials, oversee the administration of recruited screenings and serve as chief analyst on research data. He will communicate his findings to production executives and the four marketing teams created last summer as part of Sony’s departmental restructuring.
Caines will work with films across all windows of distribution as part of Sony’s effort to coordinate global theatrical, homevideo and television business units to maximize each title’s success.
He replaces Christine Birch, who has been upped to senior veep of North American theatrical marketing.
Caines joined SPE Worldwide Marketing in February 1997 as director of market research and was upped to executive director of the department last May.
