Former 'Mad TV' producer to help boost production

NEW YORK — John Irwin has been named VP, development and production, for Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video Entertainment, which produces “Saturday Night Live” and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.”

Irwin, 29, who was producer of the Saturday-night “Mad TV” series for the Fox Network, “will help us to increase the production of TV shows and events like the ESPY Awards on ESPN,” said Jack Sullivan, chief operating officer of Broadway Video Entertainment.

In addition to the ESPYs, Broadway Video produced the recent “Sports Illustrated for Kids” special for Nickelodeon. Sullivan says Irwin won’t get involved in the production of theatrical movies, which will operate under Michaels’ SNL Studios banner, which NBC owns and which has an exclusive output deal with Paramount Pictures.
