NEW YORK Less than six months after News Corp. chairman-CEO Rupert Murdoch tied the knot with Wendi Deng, his ex-wife Anna Murdoch followed suit, quietly marrying financier William Mann last weekend in New York City.
Mann, 72, is a widower and CEO of Henry Mann Securities. Details of the wedding were scarce as Anna, 54, and he had clearly made an effort to keep the event low-key.
Rupert Murdoch, 67, married Deng, 32, in late June shortly after his divorce from Anna was finalized. Deng resigned as a VP at News Corp.’s Asian satellite TV biz Star last fall.
News of the Murdochs’ split in April 1998 surprised the media world and sparked some worries among News Corp. shareholders, since the Murdoch family owns a controlling interest in the company. Wall Street was soothed, however, since Anna Murdoch resigned as a director of News Corp. and the family’s stock now resides in trusts for the Murdoch children. The pair had been married for 32 years.
