NEW YORK — Carlo Vittorini is retiring after 20 years as publisher and CEO of Parade Publications, a division of S.I. Newhouse’s Advance Publication newspaper empire. Filling his post will be Walter Anderson, who has been editor of Parade since 1980.
In his two decades as Parade topper, the circulation for the newspaper insert has grown from 20 million to just under 38 million, while revenue has climbed from $150 million to excess of $500 million. Five years ago, he created React, a teen-focused Parade spinoff.
A former reporter for the Gannett news chain, Anderson, 55, joined Parade as a senior editor in 1977.
Vittorini’s last day a Parade will be Feb. 28, which will be his 71st birthday.
