Alliance exex up stake

MacMillan, McLean, Riley, Sussman increase voting power

TORONTO — The four principal executives at Alliance Atlantis have gained control of the company by bumping up their combined voting stake to over 50%.

Michael MacMillan, Seaton McLean, Ted Riley, and Peter Sussman, increased their stake from 47% to 54.5% last week.

The move comes in the wake of two deals which analysts predicted could have heralded a possible break-up of the Toronto-based production and specialty TV company. In late July, 20% of the common equity of Alliance Atlantis and 50% of its U.K. distribution division were snapped up by the German media group Kinowelt Medien. The two companies also set up joint ventures for production, acquisition and distribution.

And earlier this month a 20% voting interest in Alliance Atlantis was picked up by Winnipeg-based CanWest Global, fueling analyst rumors of takeover and/or the sale of Alliance Atlantis’ specialty TV and distribution assets.
