Sony Online Entertainment has upped Robert Gehorsam to senior veep of programming and platform development, while Jeffrey Steefel has been tapped to the newly created post of veep, studio in Los Angeles to oversee the company’s online gaming service of TheStation@sony.com. Gehorsam, based in New York, was veep of programming, managing the programming strategy and technology platform for TheStation, which includes online versions of “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” and “The Dating Game.” He joined Sony in 1997 for TheStation.
“Robert’s strong programming vision, management skills and top-quality execution have and will continue to be key factors in the TheStation’s ongoing success in this competitive market,” said SOE prexy Lisa Simpson.
Prior to joining Sony, Gehorsam was veep, new media for Scholastic Inc. and served as CEO of Golden Branch Interactive Productions.
Steefel, to be based in Los Angeles, will oversee creative, production and operational output of SOE’s Los Angeles programming studio. He will report to Gehorsam.
Steefel most recently served as a consultant for interactive design shop Cow Interactive. He was also veep of production for interactive shop 7th Level.
