For twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the statute of limitations on cloying cuteness is nowhere near expiration, as the pilot to this formulaic new TGIF sitcom proves over and over. “Full House” may have run its course for the Olsen twins, but the family comedy production mill presided over by Tom Miller, Bob Boyett and Michael Warren has now handed the girls a timeslot-protected gift.

Chronic adorableness rules the day in “Two of a Kind,” where no crisis is so severe that it can’t be diffused in 30-seconds or fewer.

In the sweet-as-pie kickoff penned by exec producers Robert Griffard and Howard Adler, the Olsens (here called the Burkes) are the twin daughters to a widowed dad (Christopher Sieber), an uptight but cosmetically flawless college science professor.

The scheming girls (Mary-Kate is the tomboy, Ashley the straight-arrow with a boyfriend) conspire to unload the old-biddy babysitter whom dad has hired, and replace her with feisty, comely college student Carrie (Sally Wheeler).

Turns out that the headstrong Carrie just happens to be in one of dad’s sciences labs. Whoa baby! Will dad hire her to watch the girls anyway? Should dad date her instead, risking a potential conflict of interest? C’mon, this is TGIF, where never is heard a disharmonious word.

The Olsens remain America’s sassy little mascots, their every action evoking an almost involuntary sigh and smile. It’s literally “awwwwww”-inspiring. Tech credits are about what they should be.
