Hot bods and kidvid fare on USA Broadcasting’s upstart indie TV station WAMI Miami are getting noticed by the locals.
WAMI earned its first household rating higher than a 1.0 Saturday with “10s,” an original series that promises to conduct an ongoing “search for the hottest-looking people in South Beach.” The half-hour show scored a 1.4 household rating and 3 share in its 11 p.m. Saturday timeslot.
WAMI, which was revamped earlier this month from a Home Shopping Network affiliate to a locally oriented indie outlet, bowed its new format June 8 with little fanfare. USA brass aim to let viewers stumble across the channel over the next few weeks before mounting a major promo blitz in July.
There were indications last week that Miami area residents are already taking notice. The station received more than 250 calls asking when its afternoon kidvid block would resume when a technical problem knocked its signal off the air for nearly three hours on June 10.
