MIAMI — USA Latin America has become the second cabler to reach 10 million homes in the Latino market, the Universal-owned network has announced.
Target was reached thanks to a distribution deal with Argentina’s SATV, a consortium of 181 provincial operators repping 400,000 subscribers.
In February, ESPN became the first 10 million-home Latino cabler. But USA reached the figure more quickly, having launched in 1994, five years after the sports web.
Other cablers nearing the 10 million mark include Canal Fox and Discovery. CBS TeleNoticias reaches 12 million homes, but many of those get the signal as news blocks within other channels.
Not counting pirate systems, Latin America has nearly 14 million pay TV homes.
