TV3 signs soccer deal

Grabs exclu rights to Danish premier league

AMSTERDAM — Modern Times Group’s TV3 has inked a key soccer agreement with the Danish Soccer Assn. and the Danish Organization of League Clubs (Divisionforeningen), which gives TV3 exclusive rights to the Danish Faxe Kondi premier soccer league broadcasts.

The rights were put up on the auction block by public broadcaster Danmarks Radio (DR) and TV2 Danmark following a costs dispute with the soccer associations.

A separate agreement also gives TV3 the option to cover all or parts of several important cup matches, including Division II, Compaq Cup and Super Cup, as well as the European Cup matches, which involve Danish participation.

Both deals run from October of this year through Dec. 31, 2002.
