Two-hour special cleared on 79 stations
If it’s mid-March, then it must be time for syndie specials tied to Monday’s Oscarcast.
Once again, Tribune Entertainment is offering its “Live From the Academy Awards” pre-kudocast spesh hosted by KTLA entertainment reporter Sam Rubin and Lifetime TV’s Leanza Cornett.
The two-hour special has been cleared on 79 stations, including the sizable Tribune Broadcasting group, covering nearly 80% of U.S. TV households and 38 of the top 40 markets. Spesh is produced by Tribune’s KTLA and Steve Skinner.
From Baruch Entertainment and B4 Prods. comes “An African American Salute to the Academy Awards.” The hourlong show spotlights the Oscar-winning work of black thesps, from Hattie McDaniel’s groundbreaking win for “Gone With the Wind” to Cuba Gooding Jr.’s perf in “Jerry Maguire.” Washington-based Baruch has cleared the spesh on more than 70 TV stations covering 80% of U.S. TV households.
