Telepictures Prods. is in talks with thesp/singer Queen Latifah about a possible syndie talkshow deal.
Reps for Warner Bros.’ Telepictures and Latifah declined to comment on the talks. Sources say the two have been kicking around ideas for a syndie talker for some time, although no formal pact has been inked. Project details are sketchy, but sources say it would be more of a topical talker rather than an entertainment vehicle in the vein of WB’s “Jenny Jones” and “Rosie O’Donnell.”
Latifah, whose real name is Dana Owens, is known for her five-year stint as magazine editor Khadijah James on the Warner Bros.-produced Fox sitcom “Living Single,” which wrapped up its primetime run this season. Owens came to fame on the musical side with her hugely popular 1989 debut platter, “All Hail the Queen.”
Owens’ feature credits include “Jungle Fever,” “My Life” and “Set It Off,” as well as the upcoming “Fear” and “The Kiss.”
