R.J. Stewart, executive producer of the syndie action hour “Xena: Warrior Princess,” has inked a three-year deal with USA Networks Studios worth more than $3 million.
Stewart helped develop and wrote the pilot for “Xena,” and he rose from co-executive producer to executive producer along-side Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert.
“Xena” is now the top-rated firstrun syndie action hour, and it averaged a strong 5.9 rating during the February sweeps period.
Stewart also created “Man of the People” with James Garner for NBC, and he worked on “Remington Steele.” His feature credits include “And God Created Woman” and “Major League II.”
His deal was brokered by The Kaplan-Stahler-Gumer Agency and attorney Cliff Gilbert-Lurie.
