Steinberg gets on PBS’ ‘Desk’

Satirist to explore pop culture

Satirist David Steinberg has signed on as host of an installment of PBS’ “National Desk,” a series of hourlong specs billed as explorations of contempo pop culture and its influence on “the coarsening of American life.”

Steinberg, who in recent years has been active as a TV director, will speak to celebs, industry execs and behind-the-scenes talent in an episode set to air in January. “National Desk” bowed last year with three hourlong installments.

Six “National Desk” specs are set to air on PBS during the coming season. Exec producers of the series for Whidbey Island Films are Lionel Chetwynd, Conrad Denke and Norman Powell.
