Longtime “Melrose Place” executive producer Frank South has resigned his position, and two new executive producers have been named, Spelling TV confirmed Wednesday.
A Spelling TV spokeswoman said South, who had been with the show six years, is leaving “to pursue other opportunities, and we’ve accepted his resignation and wish him the best.” Also leaving is supervising producer Chip Hayes.
Running “Melrose” in South’s place are Charles Pratt, Jr. and Carol Mendelsohn. The show’s star, Heather Locklear, was also named a co-producer as part of her deal to continue with Fox’s primetime sudser.
Pratt joined “Melrose Place” in its first season as a co-producer and rose through the ranks before leaving to exec produce the short-lived “Models, Inc.” He then rejoined “Melrose” as co-executive producer. Mendelsohn joined “Melrose Place” in 1994 as a supervising producer.
