Siegel inks deal with NBC

Stand-up seems headed for sitcom

NBC has inked a six-figure development deal with standup comic Mike Siegel that will likely land him in a sitcom.

A former veejay on VH1, Siegel got NBC’s attention last year with a routine at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival. The Chicago native, in his mid-20s, is meeting with writers and showrunners to create his own sitcom or to appear in an existing pilot that could lead to a series.

Siegel, who took theatrical training in New York and Chicago, has worked as a touring comic since 1990.

His deal at NBC was negotiated by Neil Bagg and Tim Angle at Don Buchwald & Associates. Siegel is managed by Rick Dorfman.
