Romance Classics sets slate

Channel kicks off 'Moonlight Months' in September

Romance Classics will position its fall season schedule under the banner “Moonlight Months,” and each month from September through December the cable web will feature the U.S. premiere of a feature film.

The channel will also premiere several original series episodes during the fall season.

The cable network kicks off its Moonlight Months package in September by bringing its cameras to the Napa and Sonoma wine regions of California for coverage of various events in the area.

Romance Classics’ premiere film in September will be “Just Friends,” starring Tony Palermo and Anita Barone.

To coincide with its coverage of wine coverage, Romance Classics’ original travel series, “Romancing America,” will devote an episode to exploring the area. The cable channel will also run a marathon of wine-inspired movies.

In October, the network presents the world premiere of the feature film “Basil,” starring Christian Slater, Jared Leto, Clarie Forlani and Derek Jacobi.

In November, Romance Classics will premiere a one-hour special called “Love Letters,” from its beginnings to the electronic mail.

November’s movie premiere will be the miniseries “Falling for a Dancer.” Set in Ireland, the story follows a young woman who falls in love with a handsome actor, only to become pregnant and be sent far from home with her new, loveless husband.

Continuing the fall harvest theme, Romance Classics will run the wine-themed “This Earth Is Mine,” starring Rock Hudson and Jean Simmons, also in November.

The cabler’s December movie premiere will be “Prague Duet,” starring Gina Gershon and Jiri Kolmar. The film centers around an American attending a convention in Prague who meets a Czech dissident author, which sets off a romance and uncovers past secrets that spark an international scandal.

Romance Classics is an offshoot of American Movie Classics, which is owned and operated by Rainbow Programming, a division of Cablevision Systems Corp.
