Sloan to co-host show based on magazine
MIAMI — Paxson Communications has signed with Hachette Prods. for daily half-hour “Woman’s Day,” led by veteran TV personality Phyllis George.
Based on the Hachette Filipacchi magazine of the same name, “Woman’s Day” will bow with the launch of Pax TV on Aug. 31.
George, a former Miss America, former first lady of Kentucky, author and TV regular, will co-host the show with former Manhattan assistant D.A. Sloan Lindermann.
“Woman’s Day” will draw on the resources of experts from other Hachette titles — Elle, Eating Well, etc. — and feature frequent celebrity guests.
Show marks a return to hosting for George, who was a regular emcee in the 1970s with “The New Candid Camera” and “Challenge of the Sexes.” She also served as host of “CBS Morning News” in 1984-85.
“Women’s Day” will tape at the Chelsea Studios in New York, and incorporate location segs including fashion shows in Milan, cooking school in Paris, film preems in Hollywood and Caribbean photo shoots.
