'Springer' springs up 146% to second

“Oprah Winfrey” was the top talker overall in the February sweep, in spite of surrendering her crown during the week of Feb. 16 to the surging “Jerry Springer.”

King World’s “Oprah” averaged an 8.1 household rating and 21 share during the Feb. 5-March 4 sweep period. But USA Networks’ “Jerry Springer” was a strong second, weighing in with a 6.4/20. Compared with this time last year, “Springer’s” ratings are up 146%, while Winfrey is down 2%.

Warner Bros.’ “Rosie O’Donnell” took third place among daytime yakkers with a 5.3/14, followed by Buena Vista TV’s “Live With Regis & Kathie Lee” (4.7/17); USA’s “Sally Jessy Raphael” (3.7/12); Paramount’s “Maury Povich” (3.5/13) and “Montel Williams” (3.4/10); WB’s “Jenny Jones” (2.9/11); Columbia TriStar’s “Ricki Lake” (2.8/8); NBC’s “Leeza” (2.5/10) and Eyemark Entertainment’s “Gayle King” (2.3/8).
