‘Net’ catches Langton

Moving from 'Melrose' to USA Net

HOLLYWOOD — Brooke Langton, who has played the role of Samantha Reilly on Fox’s “Melrose Place” since 1995, has been cast to star in the forthcoming USA Network series based on the 1996 feature “The Net” in the lead role portrayed in the film by Sandra Bullock.

Series, executive produced by Irwin Winkler, Rob Cowan and Deborah Pratt, has received an initial USA order of 13 episodes from Columbia TriStar TV and launches production April 20 in Vancouver, B.C., for a planned summertime premiere on the cabler.

In the “Net” series, Langton will play the role of Angela Bennett, a woman-on-the-run who becomes involved in intrigue via the Internet and suddenly finds her life in danger.

Jennifer Craig and Jeff Witjas at William Morris negotiated the deal for Langton along with the Rigberg-Roberts Co.
