McCaffrey back to drive ‘Viper’

Show boasts new souped coupe

Thesp James McCaffrey has re-joined the cast of Paramount’s auto-action series “Viper.”

Upcoming season of the syndie skein also will boast a new-model Dodge Viper Coupe with a host of accessories that won’t be found in any showroom — including torpedoes and the capacity to hover above the ground.

McCaffrey, who replaces actor Jeff Kaake on the series, will reprise his leading role as a mobster-turned-cop whose uses a souped-up Viper to fight crime. McCaffrey (“The Truth About Cats and Dogs”) starred in “Viper” during its short-lived run on NBC in 1994; Par revived the show as a firstrun syndie vehicle in 1996.
