'Politically Incorrect's ' Dimich to helm
Heading into the 60-day countdown to launch, Twentieth TV has named key production staffers for its syndie latenight strip with NBA great Earvin (Magic) Johnson.
Michael Dimich (“Politically Incorrect”) has been tapped as director of “The Magic Hour,” which bows June 8. Jim Sharp, most recently exec producer of Comedy Central’s “Viva Variety,” is on board as a producer and Marilyn Gill (“Rolonda”) has been tapped as segment producer.
Heading the writing staff of the talk-variety hour is Dave Rygalski, formerly a staff writer for “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.”
“Magic Hour’s” new staffers join a team headed by Geovanni Brewer and Jeff Fischgrund Brewer, who serve as exec producers along with Johnson and Lon Rosen.
Separately, Polygram TV said Monday it has cast Mark Dacascos (“The Island of Dr. Moreau”) as the lead in its upcoming syndie weekly “The Crow: Stairway to Heaven.”
Vet TV producer Bryce Zabel (“Dark Skies,” “MANTIS”) has been tapped as exec producer of the series from Alliance Communications and Crescent Entertainment. “The Crow,” based on the Edward R. Pressman Film Corp. features of the same name, is set to bow this fall.
