‘Life’ preem can’t hold ‘Home’ rate

'Miss USA' equals last years numbers

ABC’s premiere of the midseason sitcom “That’s Life” dropped six share points from its “Home Improvement” lead-in and fell well below the timeslot average this season in both homes and adults 18-49.

“That’s Life” still managed to win its 9:30 p.m. Tuesday timeslot in adults 18-49 (5.8), despite a 12% drop from the season’s timeslot average. It placed fourth in homes (8.4/13), falling 13% from the slot average.

ABC’s second week of “Something So Right” in the 8:30 p.m. slot was about on par with its debut last week. The show rose 3% in homes from its debut to a 9.6/15, but also fell 3% in adults 18-49 to a 5.9. It placed first in its timeslot in both categories.

Pageant turn

The “47th Annual Miss USA Pageant” on CBS averaged a 10.3/17 in homes, which equaled last year’s performance, but underperformed the four previous years. However, the show got much younger this year. In adults 18-34 (5.5), the average jumped 22% from last year’s pageant, and in adults 18-49 (4.8), it climbed 2%.

UPN’s “Blockbuster Entertainment Awards” averaged a 3.1/5 in homes, down from last year’s 3.3/5, and a 1.9/5, up slightly from last year’s 1.8/5.

WB ratings were not available, and all numbers are from Nielsen.
