MIAMI — Liberty Media’s digital package of Spanish-lingo channels, Canales ñ,will bow in its first systems Tuesday.
The seven-net pack, which also carries eight channels of digital audio, will be initially available to TCI subscribers in Pueblo and Greeley, Colo.
Later in the month, further systems in Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Iowa will offer the package, which is available via TCI’s Headend in the Sky and priced at $6.99 per month.
Canales ñ consists of Discovery en Español, Fox Sports Americas, CBS TeleNoticias, Mexican-owned CineLatino, interactive video nets BoxTejano and BoxExitos, and Argentine superstation Canal 9 (Libertad).
The audio channels cover a gamut of Latino styles from rock en Español through salsa to regional Mexican.
“Digital technology has opened up a tremendous opportunity for Liberty to create this package and deliver it to a large but underserved segment of the television viewing audience,” said Liberty prez Robert Bennet.
Marketing for Canales ñ is being handled by Liberty subsid the International Channel, a leading provider of ethnic programming in the U.S.
