Storm clouds over 'Island'

ABC and Columbia TriStar are planning to revamp the struggling Saturday night remake of “Fantasy Island.”

Sources say the network has been unhappy with the storylines, and is planning to replace executive producers Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider with Charles Rosin (“Dawson’s Creek,” “Beverly Hills 90210”). And despite assurances from ABC sources last week that the web planned to order additional episodes of all its frosh comedies, the Wednesday sitcom “The Secret Lives of Men” still doesn’t have a final agreement on its expected five-episode pickup.

The web has a verbal deal, but may be waiting to see how the show performs this week before firming up the order. Last week “Secret Lives” lost a disappointing 38% of its “Drew Carey” lead-in, and the show will be preempted one week during sweeps for a “Drew Carey” clip show.
