Two-year deal worth more than $1 mil
The Jim Henson Co. has signed an exclusive two-year overall deal with Russell Marcus, creator and executive producer of UPN’s midseason comedy series “Home Team.”
The deal, worth more than $1 million, calls for Marcus to develop, create and produce primetime, firstrun syndication and cable series for the company.
Marcus was formerly co-executive producer of Fox’s “Married … With Children,” and he was executive producer of “Fudge” for ABC and producer of Fox’s “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.” His other credits include “Golden Girls” and Fox’s “Duet.”
Single dad story
“Home Team” is one of three midseason series ordered by UPN, and the comedy is about a single father and basketball coach raising four daughters. The show explores the conflict between a baby-boomer father who refuses to grow up and his daughters who want to grow up too fast.
Production on the sitcom is set to begin in September, and the overall deal was brokered by Jeffery Benson, a partner in Major Clients Agency.
