Fox picks up more ‘Files’

Newsmag to keep 9 p.m. timeslot

NEW YORK — Fox has picked up 22 episodes of its fledgling newsmag “Fox Files,” the web confirmed Thursday.

The Fox News production will continue airing at 9 p.m. Thursdays for the next few weeks, then go on hiatus during October and November to make room for baseball coverage and sweeps stunts. The series is expected to return to the lineup in December.

While “Fox Files” bowed over the summer to less-than-spectacular household numbers, Fox execs have been encouraged by the broadcast’s incredibly young (by newsmag standards) audience profile.
