Disney sports interest in ‘Z’

Marsh announces reality series

Disney Channel has ordered its first sports-oriented program, “Z Games,” a reality series featuring new and innovative games designed by kids, said Gary Marsh, senior VP of original programming.

The web has ordered 13 episodes of the series, which will be produced by Highland Prods. “Z Games” will premiere in early 1999.

“Z Games” centers on games kids devise when they lack space, players or resources. Each week the show’s camera will go to back yards, school playgrounds and homes around the country to capture the unique games kids invent.

Each episode will highlight three or four games and the Z Lab, a segment where a group of kids are challenged to create an original game using a combination of traditional sports equipment and everyday household items.
