Dimond fits ‘Upfront’ anchor slot with Rivera

CNBC kicks off show this month

NEW YORK — Diane Dimond, special correspondent for the syndicated magazine series “Extra,” has joined Geraldo Rivera as co-anchor of “Upfront Tonight,” the new five-a-week half-hour news show that kicks off on CNBC Aug. 24 at 7:30 p.m.

CNBC says “Upfront Tonight” will go “behind the headlines of the day’s most significant national and international news.”

Dimond, once under consideration to host her own daily hourlong syndicated TV talkshow, spent the last year with Warner Bros. Domestic’s “Extra.” From 1990 to 1997, she was senior correspondent and weekend anchor on Paramount Domestic’s “Hard Copy.”

Earlier, she was a correspondent for “A Current Affair,” and from 1986 to 1989, she was a reporter and substitute anchor with WCBS-TV New York.
