DGA to fete Jeffords

Vet producer will receive Capra Award March 7

Bob Jeffords, unit production manager for “Murphy Brown” since 1988, will receive the Directors Guild of America’s Frank Capra Achievement Award at the org’s annual ceremony on March 7.

Jeffords’ career began as a second assistant director on Mel Brooks’ “Blazing Saddles” and went on to work on “Streets of San Francisco,” “Most Wanted,” “Logan’s Run,” “Barnaby Jones” and TV movies “When You Remember Me” and “Babe Ruth.”

He has served in various capacities at the DGA, including as a member of the AD/UPM Council and an alternate member of the national board.

The 50th annual DGA awards show will take place at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and at Windows on the World in New York.
