Former “Living Single” star Kim Coles has inked a syndie talkshow development deal with Buena Vista Television.
The talker is targeted for a fall 1999 debut. Coles could find herself competing in the arena next year with fellow “Living Single” alum Queen Latifah, who inked a syndie talkshow deal with Warner Bros.’ Telepictures Prods. earlier this year.
“Kim will be a standout talk show talent,” said BVT prexy Mort Marcus. “She’s smart and funny with the kind of quick wit that makes a great host.”
In addition to the sitcom “Living Single,” which wrapped its five-year run on Fox last spring, Coles was a member of the ensemble on Fox’s sketch comedy show “In Living Color.” She has starred in a one-woman show, “Homework,” that ran off-Broadway and in L.A., and she recently penned the nonfiction tome “I’m Free, But It’ll Cost You.”
Coles’ deal with BVT was brokered by the William Morris Agency’s Mark Itkin and Jonathan Howard, her attorney, Matthew Johnson, and manager, Sinclair Jones.
