NEW YORK — The cable network CBS Eye on People has hired Roy Scheider to host its most ambitious programming venture, the 10-part documentary series “Legends, Icons & Superstars of the 20th Century.”
Produced by David Wolper and Warner Bros. Domestic Cable, the 10-hour program has narrowed the list of 20th century personages to 50, five of whom will get profiled in each hour through archival footage, home movies and “other material gathered from friends and families,” according to a statement from Eye on People.
The “legends” range from the Beatles and James Joyce to Mother Teresa and Adolf Hitler. The series kicks off Nov. 16. The executive producer is Scott Williams, VP of program production and creative director of Eye on People. Bob Guenette is line producer and director of the series.
