CBS delays launch of Nelvana kidvid

'Mythic Warriors' pushed back to Nov. 7

NEW YORK — Production delays have forced CBS to push back the launch date for one of its six Nelvana-produced animated Saturday morning kids shows.

“Mythic Warriors: Guardians of the Legend,” an ambitious action-adventure anthology based on the Scholastic paperback book series, will not premiere until Nov. 7, the Eye web announced Tuesday. The series had been skedded to bow with the rest of CBS’ children’s shows on Sept. 19.

CBS will plug the “Mythic” hole with repeats of the Nelvana-produced “Tales From the Cryptkeeper,” which previously aired on ABC. The web’s other new kiddie shows will premiere as scheduled on Sept. 19.

The production delays for “Mythic” are related to the complicated animation technique being used for the series, an Eye spokeswoman said.

“Rather than rush the show on the air, they want to do it right,” the spokeswoman added.

CBS is dumping its low-rated live-action kids’ lineup next month in favor of animated fare from Nelvana.
