CBS cancels its ‘Descent’

Swissair crash causes Eye to pull TV movie

CBS is pulling the repeat of its movie “Final Descent” this Sunday because of the Wednesday night crash of Swissair flight 111.

“Final Descent,” an action-adventure thriller starring Robert Urich and Annette O’Toole, is about a jumbo jet that can’t land after a mid-air collision with a prop plane. The original broadcast generated a 12.9 rating and 21 share.

CBS felt it was insensitive to air the film so soon after a plane crash. Instead, CBS will air a repeat of the film “It Could Happen to You” on Sunday. That film’s original broadcast rated a 14.0/23, the highest rating for a theatrical airing on any network last season.
