Goal: More TV ad coin into syndicated programming
The major syndie distribs are gathering in Gotham today to unveil an overhauled industry trade org dedicated to channeling more TV advertising dollars into syndicated programming.
Allison Bodenmann, senior VP with ad agency Jordan, McGrath, Case & Partners, has been tapped to head the newly named Syndicated Network Television Assn., formerly known as the Advertiser Syndicated Television Assn. The revamp has been expected ever since longtime ASTA exec director Tim Duncan resigned his post in June (Daily Variety, June 16).
The new org is expected to benefit from greater financial support from its distrib members, which include majors like Warner Bros., Paramount and Disney’s Buena Vista TV. Syndie programming has traditionally carried less weight with big-ticket national advertisers than network fare.
Bodenmann is well known in the syndie biz, having served as a past chairman of the National Assn. of TV Program Executives.
