Exec grows into comedy series senior veep post
ABC Entertainment has upped Carolyn Ginsburg Carlson from VP to senior VP of comedy series, as expected. She reports to Jamie Tarses, prexy, ABC Entertainment.
In her new role, Ginsburg Carlson is responsible for the development and management of all primetime comedy series on the ABC Television Network. Her promotion is one of several anticipated changes in ABC’s comedy department (Daily Variety, Aug. 6).
Ginsburg Carlson joined ABC in September 1989 as an associate and was promoted a year later to supervisor of current series programming. Continuing to move up the ranks, she reached her most recent position as VP, comedy series in July 1996.
During her tenure at ABC, Ginsburg Carlson has worked on the development of such ABC hit shows as “The Drew Carey Show” and “Dharma and Greg,” as well as the upcoming series “The Hughleys,” “The Secret Lives of Men,” “Sports Night,” “Two of a Kind” and “Brother’s Keeper.”
