Halloween bash is dream for kids

Ghouls and goblins gave way to fun and frivolity Saturday night at the fifth annual Dream Halloween party at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica Airport to benefit the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation.

As one of the honorees, Jill Barad, chairwoman/CEO of Mattel, made sure Barbie dolls and accessories were handed out aplenty to adults and kids alike. Toddlers and teens were dressed as their favorite characters while such celebs as Marlee Matlin, Howie Mandel and Doris Roberts (“Everybody Loves Raymond”) took part in the festivities, which included face painting, videogames, an interactive funhouse and stage entertainment.

Mistress of ceremonies Jamie Lee Curtis tried her best to tame a sometimes raucous crowd in her full-body leopard costume, while introducing acts that ranged from Barney and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to screen legend Elizabeth Taylor, who posed next to a Barbie doll created in her honor.
