Launch party brings out showbiz heavy-hitters
“I wish Daily Variety had a Gotham edition when I lived in New York,” said “Entertainment Tonight” movie maven Leonard Maltin.
Maltin was among the guests at Friday night’s Argyle Hotel party celebrating the launch of the showbiz bible’s newest venture: Daily Variety Gotham.
The cocktail reception, which featured a martini bar, sushi and cigars, came as the New York edition wrapped its first full week of publishing.
Revelers at the bash included Paramount Motion Picture Group chairman Sherry Lansing and motion picture president John Goldwyn, CBS-TV prexy Les Moonves, and producers Jerry Bruckheimer, Arnold Kopelson and “Titanic’s” Jon Landau.
Also on hand were director Arthur Hiller, producer Steve Stabler and publicist Pat Kingsley.
