Fine Line draws ‘Passion’-ate crowd

An eclectic crowd running the gamut from former New York Mets first baseman Keith Hernandez to performance artist Laurie Anderson turned out for Tuesday’s Gotham premiere of Fine Line Features’ “Passion in the Desert,” starring Michel Piccoli.

Following the screening at the Cinema 2 Theater, moviegoers segued to the China Club for a soiree sponsored by the Remy Martin Tastemaker Series. Repping the film were producer Steve Dembitzer, director Lavinia Currier, Fine Line Features prexy Mark Ordesky, New Line marketing and distribution president Mitch Goldman and New Line Cinema president Michael Lynne.

Also joining Currier to celebrate her screen adaptation of the controversial Honore de Balzac novella were E.L. Doctorow, Nina Griscom, Barbara Kopple and Sidney Lumet.
