'Seinfeld' up against nothing

Nick at Nite spinoff nostalgia net TV Land is taking a unique approach to counterprogramming the final episode of “Seinfeld” on May 14 by scheduling nothing to air from 9-10 p.m.

During that hour, the only thing seen on TV Land will be an image of the network’s closed office doors accompanied by a message explaining that programming will resume following the “Seinfeld” finale.

Of the decision to go dark, TV Land GM Larry W. Jones said, “We think airing nothing is a fitting salute to a show about nothing. As ‘Seinfeld’ is one of the greatest shows ever to air on television, TV Land is honored to preempt an hour of programming for this historic and monumental occasion. I have nothing more to say.”
