Realty exec to o'see facilities, land developments
Former Walt Disney Studios realty exec George H. Garfield Jr. has been tapped to serve as senior veep of global real estate and facilities for Universal Studios.
In the new position, Garfield will be responsible for strategic development, expansion, lease negotiations, acquisitions and cost effective use of Universal’s broad mix of real estate, including owned and leased studios, office space, retail outlets, manufacturing facilities, amphitheaters, warehouses and undeveloped land.
Garfield joins Universal from Walt Disney Imagineering, where he was, most recently, veep of corporate real estate, overseeing the company’s 15 million square foot portfolio of theme park land and entertainment locations worldwide.
Prior to joining Disney, Garfield was veep at La Salle Partners Limited, a Chicago-based real estate investment, management and services firm.
