CANNES — Bill Pullman and Irene Jacob are lined up to star in “History Is Made at Night,” which Nik Powell and Stephen Woolley’s Scala Prods. will produce for J&M Entertainment.
The $11 million film will be directed by Ilkka Jarvilaturi, the New York-based Finnish helmer whose credits include “Darkness at Tallinn.”
It’s a romantic comedy about two spies in Helsinki. He’s a semi-retired CIA agent who spends his time keeping count of radioactive reindeer, while she works for the post-Soviet Russian regime.
The screenplay is by Patrick Amos and Jean Pierre Gorin, and the producer is Jonathan Karlsson. Powell and Woolley will take exec producer credits. The shoot is set for October in Finland and New York.
J&M is fully financing the pic, which is also co-produced by Ima in France, Helkon in Germany and a group of Scandi companies.
