Handmade Films, a unit of Canada’s Paragon Entertainment Corp., has concluded a raft of deals on its contemporary romantic comedy “The Man With the Rain in his Shoes.”
The film, which stars Lena Headey, Douglas Henshall, Mark Strong, Charlotte Coleman, Elizabeth McGovern and Penelope Cruz, has sold to Pathe Distribution (U.K.), BV Intl. Pictures (Scandinavia), Shani (Israel), Shaw Bros. (Singapore) and Eurocine (Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile).
CLT-Ufa Intl., which co-financed the picture, has Benelux, German, Austrian and Eastern European rights.
Spanish film company ESICMA, which produced the film, holds rights in Spain.
The Spanish/U.K. co-production was written by Rafa Russo and directed by Maria Ripoll. ESCIMA’s Juan Gordon pro-duced.
In other transactions, BV Intl. and Shani bought Handmade’s comedy thriller “Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels” and drama “The Secret Laughter of Women,” starring Colin Firth and Nia Long, as part of three-picture deals.
Both “Secret” and “Lock” also went to Russia’s MGN Paradise, while “Secret” was picked up by Canada’s Behavior.
