Writing team for 70th Oscars announced

Dave Boone, Ed Driscoll, Jon Macks, Billy Martin, David Steinberg and Bruce Vilanch have been tapped to compose the writing team for host Billy Crystal at the 70th Academy Awards show.

Boone received a CableAce Award for his work on “Caroline’s Comedy Hour.” Driscoll, a comedian, received Emmy, Cable ACE and Writers Guild awards for his writing on “Dennis Miller Live.” Macks served as writer for several Academy Awards and is currently a staff writer on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” Martin served on Crystal’s writing team for last year’s telecast of the 69th Academy Awards and is currently a staff writer on “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher.”

Steinberg won Emmy Awards for writing with Crystal for the 64th and 65th Academy Award telecasts. Vilanch’s television credits include the Emmy, Grammy and American Comedy Awards.

The Oscarcast will be March 23 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live by ABC at 6 p.m. (PST).
