BAFTA hosts knight’s night

Event skedded for Aug. 31

The British Academy of Film & Television Arts, Los Angeles, is hosting “An Evening With Sir Ian McKellen” on Aug. 31.

Film critic and host of “Entertainment Tonight” Leonard Maltin will moderate a Q&A session with McKellen, who is in L.A. appearing in Ibsen’s “Enemy of the People” at the Ahmanson Theater.

BAFTA-LA will screen McKellen’s two latest pictures, Bryan Singer’s “Apt Pupil” and Bill Condon’s “Gods and Mon-sters” a few days prior to the event.

McKellen, one of Britain’s leading legit thesps, also has had an extensive screen career in pics such as “Cold Comfort Farm,” “Richard III,” “Scandal,” “I’ll Do Anything” and “Swept From the Sea.”
