Road grosses

NEW YORK – Receipts from the road fell off sharply during Week 34 (Jan. 19-25), dropping 12.8% to a still-hefty $16,247,028 for the 25 shows.

“Rent” had its first week at the Gammage in Tempe, Ariz., netting close to potential at $921,816, while “The King and I” had a strong week at Louisville’s Kentucky Center, also netting close to potential, with $752,130.

“Big” saw trouble at the Mahaffey in St. Petersburg, bringing in a diminutive $104,740 — barely more than 15% of its potential.
