For its 32nd season, the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre will present a new work from the creators of last year’s “Swan Lake,” a Shakespeare production directed by Peter Hall, the Broadway import “Titanic” and a dance salute to Bob Fosse.
William Luce’s “Barrymore” (Sept. 9-27), starring Christopher Plummer, will be presented as a bonus production.
“Fosse: A Celebration of Song and Dance” (Oct. 14-Dec. 6) features Fosse’s choreography, as recreated by his protege Chet Walker. Richard Maltby Jr. will direct the cast of 34 dancers, and Gwen Verdon will serve as artistic adviser.
“Titanic” (Jan. 10-Feb. 28) bows its national tour in Los Angeles. Richard Jones will direct, with story and book by Peter Jones and music and lyrics by Maury Yeston.
Matthew Bourne’s “Cinderella” (April 2-May 23) marks the exclusive U.S. engagement of the Adventures in Motion Pictures production. Produced by Katherine Dore, the show boasts ballerina Lynn Seymour and last season’s “Swan Lake” star Adam Cooper.
The season will close with Hall helming “Measure for Measure” or “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (June 9-July 25) with a company of American actors.
