Fleming to helm; Dunst to co-star
Michelle Williams, who stars in the WB hit series “Dawson’s Creek” and currently is filming Miramax’s “Halloween: H2O,” has inked to star in the Phoenix Pictures comedy “Dick.”
Gale Anne Hurd produces. Pic is directed by Andrew Fleming (“The Craft”), who co-wrote with Sheryl Longin, and is exec produced by David Coatsworth.
“Dick” begins lensing in April in Toronto and Washington, D.C.
Williams and Kirsten Dunst will play teens who befriend the White House dog, Checkers, on a class field trip. The pair become the official dog walkers and the secret youth advisers to President Nixon during the Watergate scandal.
Nick Morton and Christy Prunier are the Phoenix development execs responsible for shepherding the project.
Williams’ deal was brokered by Endeavor and her manager, Jason Weinberg.
