Walker tackles ‘Varsity’

To star opposite Voight in Par pic

Paul Walker, who’s due out in Disney’s “Meet the Deedles,” will toss spirals in “Varsity Blues” for Paramount Pictures opposite Jon Voight, sources said Wednesday.

Pic is about a young football player in Texas who is pressured by his coach, parents and town to win a state championship. Walker plays the first-string quarterback. Voight is the coach.

Production, under Brian Robbins’ helm, is slated to start in April in Austin, Texas.

Walker stars in the upcoming “Pleasantville,” opposite Reese Witherspoon for New Line Cinema. He will also appear in “Broke Down Palace” with Claire Danes.

Walker is repped by Scott Melrose and Kari Whittlesey of the Paradigm agency. He is managed by John Carrabino at Gallin/Morrey.
